Hunt Middle School in West Tacoma originally opened in 1958. In 2010, the Tacoma Public School district closed Hunt. Voters approved construction bonds in 2013 and 2020 to fund a new $48 million Hunt Middle School. The new Hunt opened fall 2021 and serves as a brand new, International Baccalaureate® (IB) Middle Years Program (MYP) school.
Hunt emphasizes intellectual and academic rigor. Helping students make practical connections between their studies and the real world, and preparing us for success in high school and in life.
